Vanderbilt Avenue Open Street needs your help!

February 26, 2025

Spring is in the air and it is about time that you might be wondering when the Vanderbilt Open Street will start. This program gets tougher to run every year. There are big challenges with securing enough funding from the city, and we always do whatever we can to make it work. The good news is…

We’re thrilled to share that Vanderbilt Open Street will be back for 2025! Unfortunately, the downside is we’ve had to make some adjustments for this year. After listening to feedback from neighbors and assessing the budget challenges it was decided that the season will be running on an abbreviated schedule: Saturdays only from 12pm-10pm starting in May through the end of September.

We are working on advocating for programs like Vanderbilt so we can all enjoy the benefits of Open Streets for a little more time each year. In the meantime, because we are only running one day, all our effort will be going towards making sure Saturdays on Vanderbilt Ave are the best day of the week for everyone!

On that note, if you’ve enjoyed the Open Street at any point over the past five years and would like to see it continue, please consider taking a more active role with your support. Here’s how you can help:

⭐️ Make a tax-deductible donation to our 2025 GoFundMe. Your collective contributions — in any amount — add up to big support.

⭐️ Volunteer! Vanderbilt Open Street is the largest volunteer-run program of its kind in Brooklyn. We’ve logged thousands of pro-bono hours to establish one of the most successful Open Streets in the city, but we could use your help. Do you work in the arts, development, sponsorship? Maybe you have ideas for programming, community outreach, or PR. Whatever your skill set or expertise, let us know.

⭐️ Advocate for our Open Street! Sign our Streets for People petition and share it with five community members.
