About The Opera Next Door: We are an independent opera company based in Brooklyn that focuses on fostering community through the magic of opera. Kind of wild, right? We are passionate about this art form and believe that, when given the chance, opera has the capacity to unite the communities that experience it.
An opera is an amazing and impressive thing to behold! The music, the storytelling, the theatricality all have the potential to inspire. However, the opportunity to experience opera live is often out of reach: both because of cost, and because its perception as high art can make it feel intimidating and exclusive. We want people of all stripes to feel welcome and that opera is theirs to fall in love with.
