[Press Release] Vanderbilt Open Streets Announces Opening Weekend & Earth Day Celebration

Prospect Heights, Brooklyn NY — Vanderbilt Open Streets is preparing for the launch of its fourth year of community programming, which will kickoff on Friday, April 21st. Vanderbilt Open Streets operates Friday from 5-10 pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon-10 pm. Special programming will be throughout the weekend in honor of Earth Day and in celebration of the new season of Open Streets.

Friday April 21

  • 6 – 8 PM: The Brass Queens helps us kick off the Spring, marching south on Vanderbilt Avenue

Saturday April 22 – DOT Car Free Earth Day!

All Earth Day activities between St. Marks & Bergen

  • 12:30 – 1:15 PM: Central African Drum & Dance by Brooklyn Music School
  • 1 – 4 PM: All ages hula session with Hula Nation
  • 1:30 – 2:30 PM: Tap with Rhythm Is Our Business
  • 1 – 4 PM: Chalk drawing with Coco Lin
  • 3 – 4:30 PM: The BlueBeats
  • 3 – 5 PM: Classon Community Fridge will collect shelf-stable items & reusable tote bags
  • 3 – 5 PM: Brooklyn SWAB will be on hand to discuss waste-related issues
